Hemi Packed 1973 Challenger Updated Makeover
Charles Schwab Corporation had this 1973 Dodge Challenger restomod built for the winner of the 2019 Charles Schwab Challenge gold tournament.
Special Restomod
Early muscle car restomods have become quite common in the past few years. And while we see a number of classic Dodge Challenger builds on a daily basis, this one stands far out from the crowd, simply because of its back story. This '73 Challenger was commissioned by Charles Schwab Corporation.

Commissioned by Charles Schwab Corporation
As the title sponsor of the PGA golf tournament Charles Schwab Challenge in 2019, the financial institution wanted to present the winner of the tournament with a unique prize. They picked the Challenger because of the correlation of its name with the title of the tournament. And they chose a 1973 model, as that was the year Charles Schwab was founded.

Classic Beauty
The 1973 model year Dodge Challenger hasn't exactly gone down in the history books as a popular one in terms of power. These muscle cars fell victim to the emissions restrictions of the '70s. However, the beautiful body lines of the Challenger still remained. Steve Strope of Pure Vision Design in Simi Valley, California was entrusted with the task to combine those beautiful lines with modern performance.

Modern Performance
Time was of the essence, so Strope went to work to improve every aspect of the car. The 6.4-liter HEMI V8 is certainly a highlight of the build, but it's far from the most impressive part of the project. The mill's 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque are sent down via the Chrysler 727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission, and the Chrysler 8 3/4-inch rear, before making it to the 18x8 and 19x10 Bonspeed/B-Forged three-piece billet wheels.

Built to Handle
The chassis and suspension have also been fortified with high-performance parts. The Reilly Motorsports suspension package includes an AlterKtion tubular front K-frame, rack-and-pinion steering, adjustable coilovers, and an anti-roll bar. In the rear, the Reilly Street-Lynx triangulated four-link setup. The upgrades give the Challenger a fast-looking stance, while also significantly improving handling and ride quality.

Touch of Class
The Aston Martin Glacier Blue paint was chosen because it closely resembles the brand colors of Charles Schwab. A number of visual mods add to the powerful aesthetic presence of the restomod. The double scoop hood features a 'Schwab' badge replacing the Dodge lettering. And on the inside, the beautiful work of Gabe's Custom Interiors highlights an accent of the fabric that is used in the jacket that is awarded to the winner of the tournament. A tasteful touch.
