Back at it again

The American tuner shop that specializes in taking fast cars and making them batcrap crazy has now turned the already bonkers Demon into a supercar destroying force of nature. HPE or Hennessey Performance Engineering has a couple of Demons of escalating power to snatch the pompous grin off of an exotic car owner's face real quick.

So it's really fast or stupid fast?

The standard Demon that was sold from Dodge came with 840hp and 770 lb-ft of torque, nothing at all to sneeze at. The Hennessey Demon is then offered two packages, the HPE1000 and the HPE1200, that include various power mods and a parachute. You read that right, a parachute.

Hennessey is mum on details

So what exactly is Hennessey doing to garner such power from the big bruising coupe? Both models of the HPE Demon are equipped with an upgraded supercharger and exhaust system. In addition to those changes, the internals has been forged and the engine has been given a tune.

Ready to rock n roll

The HPE models are still NHRA compliant with a proper roll cage and a parachute to slow you down after a blistering run. The HPE1000 Demon is the entry-level package and clocks a quarter mile at just 9.14 seconds. The entry-level HPE will get you 880hp and 806-lb-ft of torque to the wheels. The HPE1200, on the other hand, will get you 1,013 horsepower and 954 lb-ft of torque to the wheels.

HPE Valhalla?

On the Hennessey website, there is mention that the upgraded supercharger can produce anywhere from 1,000 to 1,500 horsepower and possibly more. I wonder if that is a hint that another HPE Demon could be on the way with 1,480 horsepower Bugatti Divo aspirations?
