Is a New RAM SRT on the Horizon?
With new trim options and performance features, Ram trucks may be gearing up for some serious muscle gains.
Raptor Killer
There is serious talk that Ram trucks are about to re-enter the street performance arena and we are more than ready. Enter the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX concept to counter the Ford Raptor. The Blue Oval’s entry into the specialty performance market has certainly rocked the boat since its introduction in 2010 but now it looks like Ram is ready to hit back hard wi this pickup. Rumors are running wild that the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX will go into production for the 2021 model year and will be powered by a Hellcat motor. The massive power plant has ominously been codenamed the ‘Banshee.’

Wicked Warlock
The 2019 Ram Express lineup already has some serious horsepower under the hood. The 5.7-liter Hemi V8 models roll off the assembly line in Sterling Heights, Michigan equipped with a stock horsepower rating of 395hp and 410 pound-foot of torque. With trim options available for sport hoods and rally stripes, the truck can quickly metamorphize from a capable workhorse to a Mopar muscle machine. The 2019 Ram Warlock is a delightfully wicked example of this. The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock sports a new front-end design and can be optioned with a performance hood.

Ready for Ignition
The 2019 Ram lineup also features race styled trim options like Ignition Orange and Hydro Blue. Both trim packages offer sport performance hoods with black decals, 20 inch, all-black aluminum wheels and blacked-out exterior accents including the iconic Ram logo. Only 1,000 Hydro Blue Rams will be produced. Production will also be limited to the Ignition Orange package.

Rumble On
With the overwhelming success of Dodge’s Challenger and Charger lines, Ram appears to be following suit by offering drivers a factory-produced muscle truck. The formidable 5.7-liter Hemi V8 just wasn’t enough for many Challenger and Charger drivers, allowing Dodge to open the door for SRT (Street Racing Technology) models. So why should the Ram 1500 be any different? What’s more enticing is that it’s been done before. When Ram was under the Dodge roof, there were a number of beefed-up muscle trucks on the road. Although the Ram R/T was the most common entry in the market, more powerful incarnations have torn up the blacktop.

It's Been Done Before
Past Ram muscle trucks include the Rumble Bee, Urban Concept, Lil’ Red Express and the crazy fast SRT-10. The latter truck boasted the same V10 engine that powered the Dodge Viper. So, is a Ram SRT on the horizon? The promised horsepower of the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX and the styling of the Warlock, Ignition Orange and Hydro Blue packages clearly show that there’s a market for street styling and race performance in full-sized trucks.
