Modernized Classic

There's no denying the appeal of a vintage vehicle like the Dodge Power Wagon, a true classic that arguably has more soul than any modern vehicle ever could. But there are certainly problems with any vehicle from the 1940s. For one, they're usually very slow, uncomfortable, and feature punishing ride quality, which means you won't want to drive one very far or very often. But that's where Legacy Classic Trucks out of Jackson Hole, Wyoming comes into play.

Tough but Livable

Legacy builds all sorts of restomodded classic vehicles, but its vintage Power Wagons are undoubtedly our personal favorite. The builder invests around 1,000 hours into making these old pickups worthy of the modern world, all while retaining the style and toughness that made them so special in the first place.

Upgraded Everything

Legacy starts out by boxing the original Power Wagon frame for strength, then adds modern power steering components and 13.25-inch front Wilwood brakes with dual-piston calipers to help the big pickup stop at a reasonable distance. Painless wiring provides the catalyst for things like upgraded lighting and a modern stereo system, the sort of amenities present in newer vehicles.

Updated Cabin

Inside, Legacy's Power Wagon restomods are a far cry from the spartan originals, with amenities including Vintage Air HVAC systems, insulation, three-point seatbelts, leather seats, electric wipers, cancelling turn signals, courtesy lights, LED backlit Classic Instruments gauges, and tempered glass, to name a few.

Powertrains

Customers have their choice of multiple powerplants, including GM's 6.2-liter LS3 V8 that makes 430 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, the more powerful LSA that provides 620 hp and 620 lb-ft, a 6.7-liter Chrysler V8 offering 400 hp and 480 lb-ft, or our favorite - a 3.9-liter Cummins diesel that cranks out 170 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. Transmission options differ based on the engine chosen but include both manuals and automatics.

Off-Road Capable

Unlike a lot of high-dollar restomods, the Legacy Power Wagon is also built to perform off-road, with goodies including an electric 16,500-pound Warn winch, high-clearance differentials, tow points, beefy steel bumpers, Bilstein long-travel shocks, a low-profile fuel tank, Beadlock wheels, locking differentials, and mud-terrain tires.

Means and Desire

Legacy's restomod Power Wagons are undoubtedly cool machines that are capable of putting in serious work while coddling owners in total comfort. The only catch, of course, is the price - these things crest the $400,000 mark, which is hypercar money. But if you have the means - and we know you have the desire - there aren't many cooler rigs out there in the world, in our humble opinion.
