On the evening of July 4, Arkansas police engaged in a high-speed pursuit of a Dodge Charger Scat Pack that had fled a traffic stop. The chase rapidly escalated, with speeds reaching up to 135 mph (217 km/h). The suspect managed to elude officers several times during the chase, leading to a series of near-misses and dangerous maneuvers on the highway. A blowout in the lead officer’s tire allowed the suspect to gain significant ground early on.

Despite the initial setback, officers quickly re-engaged in the pursuit, with the suspect exiting the highway and creating more distance by driving on the shoulder. As the chase continued through various intersections, officers were forced to slow down to avoid accidents, allowing the suspect to temporarily escape. The determination to avoid collisions, however, was short-lived as the chase intensified.

“I’m crashed out, go get him!”

In a crucial moment, Officer Hunter Glover, stationed further down the road, spotted the suspect and resumed the chase. Unfortunately, this attempt ended abruptly when Glover collided with an innocent motorist at 73 mph (117 km/h). The impact caused the vehicle to overturn into a ditch. Despite the serious nature of the crash, Glover's immediate response was to prioritize the chase, radioing, “I’m crashed out, go get him!” before assisting the crash victims.

Nearly 90 minutes after the initial chase began, officers spotted the Charger once again. A PIT maneuver was attempted but the driver skillfully countersteered, disabling the trooper’s vehicle instead. The chase continued as officers sought to bring the situation to a safe conclusion. Despite multiple setbacks, the officers’ persistence eventually paid off.

The Final Capture

The relentless pursuit finally ended when a fifth officer successfully executed a PIT maneuver, bringing the Charger to a stop. The suspect, Tylawrence Thomas, 20, then attempted to flee on foot but was swiftly apprehended. Thomas faced an array of charges including theft by receiving, battery, fleeing on foot, and numerous traffic violations. This dramatic and dangerous chase highlighted both the risks and the determination involved in high-speed police pursuits.
