Where is the Neutral Safety Switch located on my 2000 Dodge Durango?
Where is the Reverse Switch or Neutral Safety Switch located on my 2000 Dodge Durango?
I think something is wrong with it, because both of my reverse / backup lights do not work. I have checked the bulbs and the fuse and all seem to be fine.
Is this a costly part to replace?
Does this involve costly labor if done in a shop?
Is this easily replaceable / repairable by a layman?

No, a neutral safety switch will open and close with the function of the brake pedal. This will keep the vehicle from going into gear without the brake depressed...
A reverse switch will engage when shifted into reverse, causing the reverse lights to illuminate...
EDIT: Okay, looking at the wiring diagrams, they are the same physical part it looks like... But two different functions... Most of the time they are different switches... My bad...
EDIT 2: Looking at the part itself, I am going to say that it is on the transmission... Aftermarket is about $12, not sure about OEM...

I couldn't tell if you have the 4.7 with a 45rfe trans or 5.2 with a 46re trans. The 45rfe safety neutral and backup switch is part of the valve boby and the 46re screw into the transmission case on the driver side.
