Default sounds like bearing bad?

give a listen does it sound normal? both sides sound about the same...

That certainly doesn't sound normal to me.

Your only turning the carrier/spider gears whilst doing that. Drop out the diff cover and inspect. You also have carrier bearings where the axels drop into the carrier. See if you have any metal chunks in the fluid or on the magnet.
