Default Low Gear Oil?

I have had a noise in my Durango for quite some time. It is very loud and I have had several people look at it and tell me it is tires! This noise is NOT tires. It sounds like something is off balance. The slower I go, the louder it gets. Noise begins at about 30 MPH.

Every now and then, the indicator light on my dash comes on that looks like a windshield with water (#8 I think) on the chart.

My question is... could I be low in gear oil and is there a light for that?

I ask because I have had the suspension changed. And the CV joint changed. If I remember correctly, when you change out a CV, you have to add gear oil and I don't think it was added when the CV was switched out this last time.

There is no light for low differential gear oil. Easy enough to check. There is a fill plug you can remove. Stick your finger in, if it comes out with oil on it, it's full. If not, add until it starts coming out the fill hole.
