Default RUNNING BOARDS

At the INdy Autoshow a couple right before New Years, I saw a unique feature on a Mercury Mountaineer. I have not seen them on other vehicles, maybe it is a Mercury Patent, or maybe there were more but I didn't notice.

Retractable Running Boards. They open with the doors, and come in and flush up with the underside of the body. Has anyonei

1. Seen these on any other vehicles on anything besides the Mercury Mountaineer? I woud figure a version is also on the Ford Explorer but not verified at this time.

2. Does anyone know if they exist for the Durangos?

I checked the usual spots, Google, Ebay, etc....

Thanks!!!!

Hey Magic, before the mountaineer these automatic steps were availible around 1 to 2 years ago as a universal kit. Now they have went a little more custom fit.Im 99% sure you cannot get acustom set for a durango and its most likely best you would have to adapt a kit to use. Only dodge avail is a ram, they never expected us D guys to do anything. Honestly i would discourage this due to just the price range. That being $1,300. and around. I'll keep a look outfor other manufa. other than these following two links (AMP, and BESTOP)http://www.electricstep.com/

Tossed up a couple things on ebay, such as Sidewinder/AMP/AVS/Electricstep/Retractable step-and there is a couple on there They have a set of the expensive AMP(Bestop) used unit for $400 right now no bids. Its for an ferd but looks easily adaptable. It would save you over $1000. if you wanted to go that route and adapt it.

Lincoln Navigators have had the retractable boards for years now. Must be primarily a Ford thing.
