Parts Swap to a 1986 4x4
I need info for swapping parts from either a 87, 3500, manual, 2wd, or a 85, 1500, automatic, short w/b, TO a 86, 2500, 4x4 manual. long w/b.
What parts will interchange without MAJOR" cutting and fire and smoke???
I want a short wheel base 4x4 2500, or bigger, as in maybe using the 3500 frame and cab........it has a short flat bed! OR
I want to use the 85, automatic, short frame, cab (and bed maybe) with all my 2500 parts.
How difficult is it to shorten my 2500 long wheel base to fit the 85, cab and bed?
If that is a no go , then maybe turn the 87 into a 4x4 with my 86 2500 parts!!! Help..........
Or should I wait and try to find a rollover donor truck and scarf the frame as others on here have done? These 1st gens are getting hard to find!!!!!!!
