Default 1985 dodge d-100 questions/thoughts

I have a chance to buy a 1985 Dodge d-100 v-8 standard transmission. The truck has been sitting about 8 months but cranked up with a jump start. The guy selling it said the starter needs to be replaced and has the new one just didn't get it replaced. He has also replaced the radiator, shocks, alternator, belts, water pump, sparkplugs, boots, distributor cap, thermostat, fuel pump, battery, new tires, and front coils and shocks.

The concern I have is that he was asking if I had a trailer. It might be that he does not feel good about it being driven with expired tags and registration, but he also texted today and said with an oil change and solid tune up I should be good to go. Would'nt a tune up be replacing the sparkplugs and distributor cap.

sorry about being to long. I did look under the hood and everything he says he put in looks pretty good what do you guys think

thanks in advance

It's a 30 year old truck. You need to inspect it thoroughly yourself and don't rely on the sellers claims. You don't mention a price, the mileage, what engine, etc. sort of impossible to give you any advice.

Sorry I was kinda vague. It showed 89,605 on the odometer but not sure if it has more than than. I looked at it and it's in pretty good shape It was an old farm truck only has had 2 owners. He is asking $1500 It's a v-8 standard transmission. No leaks I went underneath and no rust. Interior is in great condition. It's just gonna be a drive around truck for my son

I am going this morning to see if he will let me test drive it since he keeps mentioning a trailer or tow. I know it starts it cranked right up after sitting for a few months. Inspection expired in 2015.

A buddy of mine bought an old farm truck that sat for a while.

He drove it to work the next day, and the pinion chucked a bearing on his way home and sent him into a ditch at 35.

Make sure it's got gear oil in it.

If the everything looks good and there aren't any leaks etc I'd take a chance on it but I'd try to talk him down to like 12 or 1000 I'm guessing it's a 318 and I've been doing some resurch on parts for that and there are more parts for the 318 then any other ones. So I'd go for it buddie good luck keep us posted
