Default Tire Pressure Sensor Issue

Hi there,
I have a 2008 Avenger SE - diesel engine in UK - and each time I start the car the TPMS warning light comes on but the tire pressures are fine.
I have just recently changed the back tires and the issue is more frequent.
My mechanic thinks it is the TPMS beginning to fail. Car now at 167k miles.

A bit worrying when the light starts flashing at over 100mph on the German Autobahn!

Question: Can I replace the valves with normal ones that will not monitor the tire pressure? If so will the cause a fault code?
Can I just pull the TPMS Fuse and run normally? I have checked the owners manual and cannot see which fuse this would be.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Bertie
