Timing 2002 Dakota 3.9l
Have to tell you I am not a mechanic, however, my brother in law is a liscenced mechanic, and am bugging him alot. He does think timing may be an issue.
Have not owned truck long, but really like it and it is kind of my new hobby. Am not expect 3.9 to be a dragster, but would like it to show a little interest when I push on the gas pedal.
What I have done:
Fresh air induction
New O2 sensor (second front one in three months I have owned the trucK)
New MAP sensor
New water pump
Prior to new MAP and O2 sensor, truck ran really rough, smelled very gassy, and drank gas like mad. Seem to have corrected this now.
I do know will have to visit tranny shop in future, as shift from second to third is very close together. Hopefully just an adjustment will be required.
Even after new sensors, occassionally get a backfire in TB, at heavier load in thiird gear, seems ok in 1st and second.
Any suggestions you have that I should look are much appreciated.
