Here's an update, local dealer had it stock, cost me $30. With the old sensor had app 1.4v
with the new one I have 2.0v, as far has driving it seems to accelerate much easier with a lighter pressure on the pedal, definetly noticeable, as far as mileage, that will take awhile to determine as the truck doesn't get used that much now (mcy season ). I'll update in the future and thanks to all for the help.

Ron

ps: couldn't believe how much cheaper the dealer was for the parts!

I know Autobone quoted me $87, Orielly couldn't find one so then I called the dealer for the heck of it and when he told me $23, I grabbed one the next day.

Heres a update, went for aride today app 190 miles of mixed driving, back roads, highway 70-80mph, bumper to bumper traffic and backroads, got exactly 15.1 mpg and that is way better than it was with the old map sensor. I also noticed that the tranny semmed to be be more responsive as far as kicking down when go uphill or needing to accelerate. The best i've ever gotten before was 17 and that was straight hiway for 600 miles. As of now I'm pretty happy with the results . And thanks to all for the help. Thinking of maybe changing out the upstream o2 sensors.

The MAP sensor for a 4.7 must be a lot different from my 3.9. My MAP sensor at the cheapest Dodge dealer in town was still $115.00. I got mine at Autozone for $68.00. It and my new tune-up helped a lot. Last week I ordered 2 new upstream O2 sensors from NGK and put them in yesterday. I did it as maintenance, my truck has over 110K and was still running on the original O2's. I could tell after driving for a few miles the PCM had learned the new sensors and the truck had more power. It's hard to keep it under 70now. It accelerates a bit faster from a stop, passes other cars faster and easier and it maintains speed going up hills at 55 or 60 in 5th gear, without me having to downshift.

Best of all it looks like the new O2's are helping my MPG. It used to take almost a 1/4 tank of gas for the 50 mile trip to my girlfriend's house. Yesterday it took about half that much gas, judging by the gas gauge. The trip back home used about the same amount. I have been writing down the mileage and gallons I get when I get gas, then dividing the difference in miles by the number of gallons used to see how my MPG is doing. After I replaced the MAP sensor and did my tune-up it went from around 17 in town to 19.23. I'll be satisfied if I can get maybe 22 or 23 with the new O2's.

So far I'm pretty glad with the improvements it made. The only thing I may do next is switch from High Mileage oil to a regular 10W30 grade. I had been using Maxlife 10W30 since 65K and since about 95K I have been using the Napa house brand High Mileage oil. It's the same as Maxlife, but costs half as much. High Mileage oil is still thicker than conventional, even in the same grade. The thicker HM oil offers better engine protection though, so if I get enough of an improvement in MPG from the new O2's I will probably keep on using HM. I'll be due for an oil change in a few weeks, so hopefully I will know more about my MPG by then.

Thanks again to the OP and everybody who posted on this.

I just looked it up and yours is a different and more expensive sensor that the 4.7, but even though it does seem worth it considering the results.

I just went down to the dodge dealership to pick up a MAP sensor, it was $174 before tax. Almost told them to go &$^# themselves. Anyone have any suggestions on where I should order mine from? I know that autopartswarehouse.com has them, but then I have to drive down to the states to pick it up. I have the 5.2L V8 4x4 etc etc

I wonder...

if MAP input voltage is low (betw pins 1 and 3) is this a result of a problem within the MAP or with the PCM which is origin of the voltage?

Doesn't Canadian Tire sell parts? (I hear a lot about them on other forums). No BC parts stores can get one?

Call a NAPA store in a border town and order one (make sure you feed them the VIN to make sure) and then cruise down to pick it up. If you want to cruise all the way down to the Napa Valley area,...

Have you looked art rockauto, com. I've had friends in Europe get odd parts from them quickly and efficiently. (perhaps they didn't use UPS, eh?<G>)

try makeitdodgeparts.com in Colorado. a dealer but online prices seem decent for what I've looked at. Only online dodge parts dealer I've seen. Or try Marve Neel at All Diodge Truck in Sacramento...a "dismantler" but he's been there since 61 and quite knowledgeable. 800 433-7667 or alldodge@inreach.com

if pins 1 and 3 dont read 5 volts across the multimeter, you either have a wire problem, or pcm internal problem.

I have a 2003 4.7 and bought a new map sensor at the dealership for $29. Looking at my old map sensor, it has a screw in the left side, and what looks to be a plastic dowel on the right side. Is this as it is supposed to be for anyone else that has changed it on a 4.7?
