Hello all! I have been wanting to put a Cold Air Intake on my Dakota for quite some time now, and with school coming to a close, I need some project to start off the summer right. So I finally decided to grow a pair and just do it. But I do have a few questions:
1: Placement of the actual filter. Where should it be? Like this-
Or
2: .... Maybe that was my only question.
EDIT: I remembered what my question was! With either of these two positions, do I need a pre-filter?
In the fender... Colder air rather than the
Hotter under the hood air generated by the
Motor. So, the second pic is better. But, it's
Almost a wash do to the fact thst the piping
Leading up to the throddle body is gonna
Get hot just like everything else under the
Hood.
#1 will probably give you warmer air than the stock airbox, which kinda defeats the purpose. I can't see where exactly the filter is on #2, but it looks like it would take in cooler air, with an increased risk of sucking up water, mud, etc.
