FCA cutting powertrain warranties beginning in 2016 to 60,000 miles
Monumentally stupid decision. Why anyone would want to follow GM's lead on anything is beyond comprehension. Why not leave it at 100,000 and be able to advertise that you stand behind your vehicles longer than Ford and GM and other competitors?

Yes, I read that today. I agree. dumb@$$ bean counters at Fiat. that's been a huge selling point for D/C for years.
and if you read all the slobbering press articles when the Challenger/Charger Hellcat came out, they all ooh'd and aah'd over 707hp AND a 5yr/100k mile powertrain warranty.
sure, I get it that pretty much everyone other major manufacturer has gone to 60k miles, but that WAS THE POINT.
D/C offers things NO OTHER manufacturer does. who else does a Viper? who else dominates the min-van segment for decades? who else takes it to Ford & Chevy in the full size truck segment with innovations like RamBox? who else offers a 707HP sedan for under $70k? who else offers a 5yr/100k mile powertrain warranty???

It's like that on everything anymore.
Seagate hard drive warranties used to be 5 years, now it's 3 year.
My Maytag refrigerator's compressor was 5 years and when it failed the tech they sent out messed up my fridge. They replaced it with a brand new Maytag with a 3 year compressor warranty.
They cut off some of their costs so they love it.

I know it cuts costs and everyone else is doing it. I just don't agree its a smart move.
