Default Software Updates

I have a 2014 Durango. Last time I took it in for an oil change they said I needed 3 software updates and they were 1/2 hr each. I declined at that time. Has anyone had any updates performed? If so what did they do and how important are they. Everything is working fine with my car and if it isn't broke don't fix it right.

Thanks

They are always coming out with software updates. Just like patches and updates for a computer. Pretty much everything on cars these days is computer controlled. Don't know why you would decline them. They are cvovered under warranty.

Don't know how much crosses over between the 6 and the 8. I have a 2013 R/T. During other service on June 22, they flashed my module. Line item on inv reads:
C CK FOR SOFTWARE FLASH UPDATES
CAUSE: E
10 DRIVEABILITY
308 W
VERSION 1: flash module 08-110-14

Don't ask me what all the above means. However, I do perceive smoother shifting. That said, there were uproars when they would flash Gen 1 D's. Supposedly some killed performance. Who knows.

TNDurangoNow,

Did the dealership mention specifically which vehicle components/systems needed software updates? There may be a TSB release that I can provide you with based on that information. Either way, as jkeaton said, I would certainly have any available software updates performed.

Yep. All three performed on my 14 R/T 3 weeks ago. Engine and transmission software updates. I'm actually noticing improvement since they were done. Very smooth. And I didn't have any complaints before the update so there's definitely a difference.
