Airbag Recall R-25/P-43/P-40 Discussion
#51
I called the dealership a week ago to see if the repair parts ever arrived. I explained to the service adviser that I had made an appointment in October only to be called two days before I was to bring my truck and told there weren't any parts, and that I would be called when a new batch arrived.
He not only verified parts were in stock, but had a module tagged with my information. I dropped off the truck this morning, received a courtesy ride home, and was returned to the dealership (same driver) shortly before 3:30pm to pick up my repaired vehicle.
I also tested the horn. Everything works as expected and the experience was pain free. The SA stated I should keep an eye on the coolant and that at just over 100K miles it should be replaced. Once I get my Mazda rolling again, that's next on the list.

Here's something new (*cough*):
Got another letter in the mail for the rear pinion seal (I think that is it) -- this is the same thing I was on them for last year. I called the dealer to let them know I got another notice, just to be told they will call me when the parts come in. I told them I've been waiting on this since the notice LAST YEAR, and they said they have no control over what they get and when.
I asked about the airbag, which is the same deal, and was told the same thing.
Surprise.

A few days ago, I was digging though paperwork related to my truck and found the initial notice regarding the recall on the passenger side airbag. The notice stated I would be receiving a follow-up along with instructions to schedule an appointment with the dealer. That was about six or seven months ago.

You can keep an eye on https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/recalls.html, which shows you any recalls (closed, open with parts available, or open and waiting for parts). This will be slightly faster notification than snail mail, and you can sign up to receive an email notification when parts are available as well.
