5th wheel tongue weight question
Hi,
O.K., so I bought an 05 Laramie 4-door standard short bed quad, 4-wheel drive, 5.7 diesel (tranny was already rebuilt with a beefed up tow package) and had the 16 k hitch installed… I'm ready to buy a 5th wheel, but am confused…
I researched the dodge towing guide and it say's in the fine print below the vehicle description "class IV receiver maximum tongue weight is limited to 1200 lbs"?
It has the 3.73 axle ratio. In the tuck description it defines the GAWR as 5200 front and 6010 rear.
The unit I am looking at has a pin hitch weight at 1330. Is this too much for the rear axle going by the tongue weight limitation of 1200 lbs? The 5th wheels GVWR is 10,400 lbs as well. I can supposedly tow up to 13050 lbs, so I should be fine, except if I'm limited by the tongue weight...
Sorry for the length, but I'm new to all of this.
