Default P0420 & P1494 Trouble Codes

Hi all, Hoping to get ideas on how to fix this. I have a 2002 1500, Dodge Ram Sport with the 5.9l. Engine light came on so I hooked up my scanner and came up with the two trouble codes, P0420, and P1494. I replaced the LDP and checked the vacuum lines. While checking the lines off the LDP, I noticed a large line that went up about as far as the distributer near the brake master cylinder. It was a hard plastic tube with a short rubber hose 3" connected to it and nothing else. its missing something but I am not sure what. On the under hood catalyst schematic it is listed as the evap canister vent. I assume that some kind of cap must go on the end of the hose. I can feel suction on the hose when the truck is running. Any idea what type of cap would go on here or does the hose plug into something else? Could this also cause the trouble codes that I have to appear? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Bill
