Default hemi mds question

just traded my 04 durango for an 08 1500 quad cab w/hemi, someone told me that the mds doesn't kick in unless you use 93 octane gas.
is this a bunch of crap, (i hope!)?
also how can you tell when it does kicks in, ( only had it for 2 days)?

thanks, jack

No, it kicks in with any flavor of gas. I put midgrade in mine. Doesnt like low octane, neither does it like higher oct. 89 is perfect for me.

The only way to tell if it is on is to listen for your exhaust note to change, or to watch your rpms on a flat raod. Youll be cruising along, say 1500 rpms for a minute, then, they will kick up to say 1800 all the sudden and you havent touched the throttle, that is the mds

They probably got that fact mixed up with the oil... Supposedly you have to use 5w20 in your Hemi for the MDS to work properly.... Gas, the MDS will kick in no matter what's in the tank....

93 octane, now that's funny. With the stock exhaust it's very difficult to tell when it kicks in. It will kick in no matter what speed providing you are in a time of little load on your engine. I'd also suggest reading the owners manual to get a little more information on your new truck. Congrats on your new purchase and welcome from this scurvy dog.
