Installing Tow Hooks on a 2009-2012 Ram 1500
Parts involved:
Picture of the parts.
First, you need to remove the blank filler panel in the bumper by removing the 6 "push pins" along the top. The center pulls out, then you pry the whole thing out.
Once the pins are out, there are tabs on the bottom that you have to push up and out from behind the bumper. You can kind of see the tabs in the following pictures, along with the mounting points (circled).
Next, you remove the two nuts on the lower bumper mount (circled above). Insert the tow hook into place, making sure the locating "tab" on the mounting bracket fits into the "slot" above the bumper bolts. Start the nuts back onto the bolts, then insert the longer bolt (supplied with tow hooks) into the rear mount. Torque the bumper bolts to 70 ft/lbs and the rear bolt to 65 ft/lbs.
Repeat the installation steps for the other side, then you are done.
