Ok, so I finally looked under the truck, I have the 246D not 244D. It is a Laramie, with the Auto 4WD feature...that's where the confusion was for me, I thought I had the 244D because of the Auto feature. So there should be no problem lifting my truck then?!!!!

UPDATE: The dealership looked it over for two hrs this morning... they put the stethescope to the transfer case, the transmission, the front and rear diffs and couldnt anything out of the ordinary... they said the play (and the click) in the shaft/transfer case was just where the splines meet.... So their diagnoses was a creak in the suspension... and obviously where it's Superlift suspension Dodge won't have anything to do with it.... so I dunno, I guess I'm going to have to inspect it closer myself.
Just to clear up the transfer case number question... the np246 is the case with auto 4wd, the 243 is the one without. I'm not sure if there is a 244...

From what I've come across on the internet it looks like there was a 244D.
