My Ram + Diablo Trinity = Fuel Saver
Sorry for yet another thread on this but I couldn't find one that really fit. Here's my experience.
1500 SLT Crew Cab. Production Date 12/02/08. I drove the truck ~5,000 miles and couldn't stand it any more so I ordered the Trinity. I jumped through numerous hoops with drivers and such only to get a message on my Trinity that said the PCM must first be updated before it can be tuned. It said my CalID was 438AA (verified by checking the PCM itself). I went back to Diablo's site again and downloaded the needed update and was eventually able to get the 87 octane tune installed. Imagine my surprise when, a couple days later, I notice my Fuel Saver light was on. I was surprised because my truck has never had a Fuel Saver light. I now have the light and the abilty to turn it on and off through the system setup menu. Near as I can tell, it's even working correctly. The new CalID is 438AB.
Unanswered questions - It used to be, and I imagine it still is, that when a tech flashes a PCM they are required to install a sticker with the new calibration and this is a EPA regulation. My PCM still is marked 438AA but the installed cailbration is 438AB. Am I gonna get busted when I go to a dealer? Is it the new calibration that turned the light on or the Trinity? Is the Fuel Saver light really functioning like it's supposed to or is it working more like the Economy Lights of old (worked off the MAP sensor if I'm not mistaken)? Can anyone have the Fuel Saver light simply by changing to the AB calibration? Can it really be that simple?

Fuel saver light can be had on many Rams which does not have it with a flash.
As for it working correctly (under Diablo control)... Well... Everyone I talk to indicates it comes on early (before MDS).
I might make a video tomorrow given it is warm. With my exhaust you should be able to tell when it comes on/off on the video. Maybe they will listen to my complaint then.....
