2010 5.7 Sparkplug Change
#41
Called my local Dealer here in Ga. $210 includes parts and labor. He suggested to have the throttle body removed and cleaned for $89 plus a full fuel injection cleaning for $99. What everyone's thoughts... one concern I have is should the fuel injection cleaning be done first not to screw up the new plugs?

Before you change the plugs....
Add a full bottle of GUMOUT (high concentrated formula) fuel injection cleaner to a full tank of gas.
Run the tank down to almost empty. Then go change the plugs.
Dealer wants to remove the throttle body to clean it...??? No, absolutely not...!
You can do this yourself before the plug change... one spray can of GUMOUT carb/fuel injection cleaner.
Pull the air intake tube off, spray entire inside, done. I`ve found that most dont need it though.
If you install a oil trap can within the PCV and the TB, that stops alot of oil being sucked down the intake.
Also a GOOD quality air filter keeps the TB & intake track clean as well.

Part number for the NGK's that we should be using on our 09 Hemi Ram's??
I see the Autolite part number but not the NGK part number on this thread. Went online and there are 2 options. One of which is a Laser platinum (PLZFR5B13EG) and the other is Standard (LZFR5C-11)
Not sure which one is needed/better or meant to compare to stock. Thanks guys!

XP5325 is the Autolite Iridium plug for the 5.7 Hemi. I don't know the cop car or hybred 5.7 Hemi Ngk Platiumn plug number. They are 100k plugs. Well worth getting so no more 16 plugs every 30k. Some makes the TB gets nasty some don't. Don' know about Hemis. I looked in mine with a flashlight at 30k and it was spotless. My vettes 6.2 was somewhat nasty. I pulled it and cleaned it.

Use a 100,000 mile plug. The NGK Platinum for the 5.7 Hy-bred or Cop car. Its taking a while before release to aftermarket on the factory plug. It will happen eventually. I'm using Autolite XP5325s Iridium. 5 year unlimited mileage guarantee. Bought through Amazon.com with a $2.00 per plug rebate through Autolite. I've had them 8000 miiles. Bit smoother idle and maybe a hair better fuel mpg. To heck with changing 16 plugs every 30,000.
