ok my 96 is still at my friends hes got the engine all back togther the problem is it wont spark he believes the timing is right and it sparks only after turning the key off after cranking no computer codes .whats wrong .

 

maybe the timing isn't right or maybe you need to get the computer programmed. Usually the computer tells the engine when to spark. Good Luck

 

There is no programing our PCMs. I would double check everything. Pull a plug and connect it to the wires one by one and ground it to the block, be careful to not be touching the plug or wire, have someone try to start the car, if you see a spark its most likely the timing.

 

ok the timing is right and just put a cam sensor in and a new starter in and new sparkplugs and still no spark . anymore ideas. all the wiring is right also.

 

What was the original problem with the motor or why did you take it apart?

 

my engine had 189,000 miles on it and he did the headgasket and did the pistions and alot more I dont know much about. just cant get a spark last time I talked to him.

 

my buddy had the same problem....he messed up the fire order.....went 4321 instead of 1234

 

actually it was the timing he was off a little and now He is putting my engine back nicly should be gettin her by next week cant wait.

 

that will do it every time.

 

I will be getting her back this coming monday a whole rebuilt engine for around 500 bucks by my best friend .next plan for summer is maybe painting her some kind of orange.cant wait to drive her again.
