Default V6 Base model?

What do you guys think the chances are of a Challenger coming out with a base V6 engine for those of us on more of a budget?

Would it likely be priced similar to the V6 Mustang? How much HP would you expect it to have?

I would like to see a Stratus coupe type car with a V6... not the Challenger...

A more powerful V6, not a weak Mitsu engine...

I'm betting they will and it will be the 250hp 3.5L. i bet 1/2 of the ****stangs bought are v6, so there is alot of market to be had there, so i cant see DCX passing that up. mustang is the competition, so ti will probably be priced accordingly.

With the MDS 5.7 there is no need for a V\6 in the Challenger. Engine line up should be 5.7, 6.1, 6.4.

i don't think gas mileage is the issue so much as price and competition.

BTW the 3.5L is rated at 19/27 MPG in the charger.

the 5.7L MDS in the charger is 17/25 in the charger.

people that buy this car arent going to be worried about mileage...

about 40% of the mustangs sold are V6s...

i know i would only get one with a v8 but i also know a lot of people who could care less about the engine, my x- girlfriend just got a new stang w/ a v6 and loves it- dodge would be stupid not to offer the v6 section of the market because they could be losing half of their potential buyers or even more

A Challenger with anything other than a V-8 would be a sin........

I think they would be wise to do a V6. As others have said, a good chunk, I've seen numbers higher than 40% of non GT mustangs, so the market is clearly there. As long as they keep to the 6.1 for the R/T who cares? The margins they make on the v6 versions may actually offset pricing on the 6.1 version helping DCX keep it in clear striking range of the stang price wise. Don't forget, you could get the original w/ non high performance powerplants.

Yes you could, a mighty 225 inch slant 6 putting out all of 145 HP.....might as well be driving a VW.

The "performance" version of the 1970 Challenger (and isn't performance what the car is all about?) wore the R/T badge and came standard with a 335 HP, 383 V-8........with even bigger powerplants if you wanted them.

Personally, I would never pay $40,000 for a car with a V-6 unless it was turbocharged or supercharged.....
