Default Avenger V6 fuel filter change by Bad Venge

-------------------------------
De-pressurizing the fuel system
-------------------------------

1. First you must de-pressurize the fuel system, so you ask how the in the heck do I do that??

-Now as well all know gas is real combustable so safty first absolutlyNO SMOKING of any kind while doing this.

-Remove the rear seat cushion and look for the metal plate it's on the drivers side. It should have 4 small screws holding it in place. Unscrew those and gently raise the cover.

-Now your looking at the top of your fuel pump. Look for the wire clip, and unplug it.

The other cover is the fuel level sender ( in the middle)

-Start the engine and allow it to run until it stops. It should only take a second. Crank the engine 1 more time to ensure that all pressure is relieved.

- Now disconnect the negative battery terminal before doing anymore work.

-------------------------------------------
Now for the replacement of the fuel filter.
-------------------------------------------

1. Raise and support the back of the vehicle securly on jackstands.

2. The fuel filter mounts to the uni-body/frame above the rear of the fuel tank.

3. Use an open end wrench to hold the filter, then unscrew the fitting bolts and detach the fuel lines. There will be some spillage so watch out, use some rags to clean it up.

4. Discard the sealing washers, new ones must be used with the new fuel filter.

5. Remove the bracket bolt and detach the filter and bracket. Note the direction that fuel filter is facing.

6. Make sure the new filter is installed so that it's facing the proper direction as noted in the last step. Using new sealing washers, connect the inlet and out let lines, then torque the fitting bolts to 22lbs.

-----------------------------
Re-pressurize the fuel system
-----------------------------

-Reconnect the the wire connector to the fuel pump in the back seat.

-reconnect the negative battery terminal.

-Turn the ignition to the "on" posistion. Do this at least a couple of times.

-be sure to check for leaks

-restart the car

You should be good to go.
