Hi I have a problem with my cooling fan on my van. I've checked the fans and they will spin up when 12V is applied, the 40A ohms out ok, but there is no power going to the fans and the van overheats when idling. I need to check the relays, but can't find them. I followed and earlier post that said they were located on the drivers frame rail under the airbox. I looked ther but only found 2, 8 wire connectors. neiter of these have wires as thick as the ones going to the fans.

Book shows them under a cover next to the AB drivers side. All relays and fuses are there. I would scan for error codes to make sure its not a sensor issue. Its the sensor that tell the PCM to start the fan. And, the sensor lives in a far more harsh enviorment than the relay. The PCM may lead you right to the real issue. The chilton book is great for troubleshooting and advise, theory and trouble codes. You can still access the codes through the "key dance" but you don't get them all and can't reset them after a repair. Most quality AutoParts stores will scan your rig for free or good scanners are about $200.
I actually found the relay and the problem. I found the relay behind the front end cover under the drivers headlight in the air filter intake tube. Also found the problem, it was a bad wire on the connector. I guess thats what you get when you buy used vehicles. you get to fix other peoples repairs properly.
