Default Code P0340 Camshaft position sensor

I have a 97 grand caravan 3.8L that has stuttered several times while driving. The CEL comes on but goes off after stopping/starting. The engine losses power for a few seconds than goes again. Read the codes, only code was P0340. The van has many miles on it, 208,000. Is there a way to check the sensor or should I just replace it. I have seen other posts that talk about a flex plate?? Any help is appreciated.

Could be a flex plate, if you have already replace the sensors. You would need a lab scope to ck the sensors.
