I have a 1993 3.3 caravan with busted engine, and got a 1996 3.3 caravan with busted tranny. Can I swap engines (1993 to 1996 car) or trannies (1996 to 1993 car) ? can any of this be done? or just a time-consuming-no-results bad idea? thanks in advance.

 

anything is possible but u'll have a lot of work ahead of u. first the cases are different but there's a conversion kit out there but its spendy. then there's a serious wiring issue for the neutral safety switch. the conversion kit,youhave to dismantel the trans, have a hole bored into the case for the 1996+ electrical connector then plug the holes for the old style switches. so basically no u just cant use a 1993 trans into a 1996. btw where are u? i know of a few good gen3 trannies near me

u can use 1996-2007 3.3/3.8 trans the only difference is the flex plate and the shifter plug. if u use a 1998 or newer trans you'll need to change the flex plate or use the older converter in the newer trans. if u use a 1999 or newer trans, u need to change the connector on the neutral safety switch (just cut off the connector and wire in the connector that fits.). you can even use a stratus trans from a 2.7 but you need to also change the passenger side cv shaft housing (4 bolts)
