My 3.8 is accelerating too much when I release accelerator causing lousy mpg and wasting brake life. I know I need new plugs. Can that be it? A mechanic said some vehicles do that. If it's the computer can nothing be done?

 

If the RPM is too high, you may have a vacuum leak causing the high idle.
