Replacing headlights 1999 Caravan
I need to replace headlight assemblies in a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan. Can someone provide me with directions for doing this? Can it be done by an amateur?

It is not too difficult. You have 1 bolt on the hood rail and 2 or 3 nuts on the back side. You may need to loosen the overflow container on the passenger side (1 small bolt) to get to one of the nuts. To remove the bulbs, you will need to remove the harness plug and unscrew a plastic nut ring (collar). New assemblies (purchased from Amazon or other suppliers) may already come with the headlight bulb and lock collar in-place, but you will need to swap your parking/turn signal bulb. Note that there is a plastic aligning pin that goes into the fender next to the parking light bulb. When you pull the old assembly off, pull it straight out or you will snap the pin off if you bend the assembly. That is no big deal if it breaks since you are replacing the assembly. The driver's side is a little tight to work, but I did it with no problem.
Aiming the new assemblies may take some trial and error... or perhaps take it to a shop that will aim them for you. The little bubble leveler did not help me that much, it only got it in the ball park. Same thing for the left/right gauge.
Good luck and enjoy better lighting!
