Default output speed sensor

On a 96' grand caravan does anybody know why the output speed sensor keeps failing? It's a 3.3 lit. with a 4 speed automatic.
Any help would be appriciated.

How many times has it failed? Does your van go into limp mode and the speedometer stop working when this happens?
My 2000 Caravan had the speed sensor go out once, I paid to have it fixed that time because I didn't know what the problem was. It went out again about 11 months later, I replaced it myself for $23.00. been ok since(about a year). I have no idea why they would go out so often, it's just a magnetic sensor. Now I'm having shift solenoid problems, stuck in limp mode again. Isn't all this fun! By the way, I live in University Place, Randy

Look at my thread right before yours. Dealers just tell me "those things go bad all the time". I find it interesting because it is basically a magnet that picks up a small amount of metal on the tip and they fail. I've had 4 in 45k miles. Unless someone knows why else they might fail, 'cause i'm sure interested.
