Overheated today--strange discovery!!!
Hi All,
My 2008 3.5 V6 overheated today, the temp gauge rose quickly, warning light came on and it shut it down straight away. Just prior to it overheating the vehicle was stationary at idle for about 20 minutes while I was on a phone call , the A/C was on and the temp outside was about 100F, Upon investigation one of the rubber water pipes behind the engine that goes to the bulkhead in front of the driver had come off, the one nearest the center of the car.
Now here is where its gets strange! hanging out of the metal pipe that goes through the bulkhead (where the rubber pipe had just come off) was a long torx 3/8 socket with a beveled head , it was very effectively blocking the opening, and was completely covered by the rubber hose. I have two questions,
1. what is this pipe for, I am thinking feed to the heater unit????
2. why would someone do this, for what purpose???
thank you
