ever thought about doing the opposite? taking a short bed truck and making it a long bed??
I'm sure you got plenty of frame laying around to fill the gap.
my truck is a factory short bed, but sometimes I wish it was a long bed...especially since my dirt bike only fits in the bed with the rear end turned sideways a bit so the gate can close. that makes it difficult to get two bikes in the bed and still close the gate.

I've got a line on a long bed 4x4 that I'm contemplating throwing the frame-down under my truck's cab/engine/trans.
$1000 for the bed, axles, driveshafts, and cab/bed but the bed is dented pretty bad and the cab has a hole through the firewall.
I kind of want to, but I kind of don't. It sounds like a hell of a lot of work. I wouldn't mind having the longer frame, it would be nice to get a custom service bed on it and the longer wheelbase would make towing that much better.
