New Clutch, sluggish 1st and reverse
2001 Ram 1500, V6, 3.9 L, manual transmission.
Changed out the clutch today (clutch kit, so changed all parts dealing with the clutch).
TEST DRIVE POST REPAIR
Vehicle will shift through all gears when vehicle is running and when not running. Vehicle will not start if clutch pedal is not pressed. Of course it starts right up when clutch pedal is pressed.
When taking off in 1st gear and in reverse, you have to give it a bit more gas and let the clutch out a little faster ( it feels like you are trying to start off in second gear). When shifting through the rest of the gears (2nd - 5th), very, very smooth and no problems whatsoever.
The installation went off without a hitch, but I cannot figure out why the sluggish start in 1st and in reverse. Not sure when pressing the clutch pedal if it is as firm as before. Also, is it safe to drive or is it taking a chance of damaging something?
Any thoughts or help would greatly appreciated!
