Default How to disable ABS?

I have noticed that my ABS will not let me stop in time in certain situations, like the accident I got into last Friday. The brakes just kept letting go, and I know that if I could have locked up those big waffle-stomper tires I could have stopped. I want that ABS gone. This is on a 96 Dodge 2500 Cummins turbo diesel. I've found that shops won't do it becuase of the liability. I explained to them that now I have liability because of the ABS, and they say they understand that, but they can't do it because of the possible liability. So I've decided to do it myself.

Is there a way to quickly and easily disable ABS?

Gosh, that's pretty simple, is it labeled? Do you know which one it is?

Not sure, I'll look on my truck when I get to my shop after my day job. It should be labeled. There's usually a diagram on the fuse panel cover. [sm=smiley20.gif]

I rememder reading on another forum though that if you yank that fuse your dash odometer will stop working too, can't remember what years that the froum was talking about though, but you computer will still log miles. Good thing is only the dealers will ever find out.

That's on the newer ones that use the ABS tone ring as a speed sensor. Her '96 and my '97 have a speed sensor in the transfer case (transmission for 2wd models). I'm not sure what year they started using the ABS to monitor speed. Good point though.

I've thought about doing the same thing but yet at times it has saved me from accidents. I can disable them whenever I want to really by locking my truck into 4x4.
