Default Premature burntish oil/hard start

Where to begin.....OK...We have a 2011 Ram 2500 Mega Cab with the Turbo Diesel..The truck has 21,000 miles of highway use, both pulling and cruising. Now the problem. The truck started before you could let off the key, until recently. All of a sudden it takes 3-4 revolutions before it fires off. We changed the fuel filter - no change. We checked the oil and it looked and felt like it had a million miles on it. There is NO service light. We looked into when it was last changed and it only had 1000 miles of highway pulling on it. We changed the oil. Could the turbo be going bad? I have no clue as I am a Gas kinda fella. This is our 3rd Ram but our first problem with one of them. Will anybody give me a direction to start? It is still under warranty but I do not want to go in ignorant.

Are you letting it idle for long periods?

Default Burnt oil..

Nope...The real kicker is Pops has been running a Cummins in his Big Rig for ever and all I know about are Gas engines.

I can't explain the " hard starts ". But the dark oil you can thank the EPA for. With EGR systems in these newer diesels expect to see black oil after a few hundred miles...

Heater grid, may have soot build up. Do the deletes. Your truck will thank you.
