Power everything, a manual transmission, and low mileage make this exceptionally clean truck from the hit film Twister even more desirable.

What does it mean to be in “the right place at the right time?” Many Baby Boomers could count themselves lucky to be of driving age when Detroit’s late sixties horsepower wars were in full swing. The rarest, most desirable Mopar muscle machines of that era now demand six figure (sometimes seven figure) prices these days.

More recently, ’90s kids can count themselves lucky, as they were there to bear witness to Dodge’s pickup truck renaissance. For many, that renaissance happened on screen in the 1996 summer blockbuster Twister. The groundbreaking CGI, used to show off Mother Nature’s destructive side, drew many oohs and ahhs from viewers.

However, the real star of the show was the bright red Dodge Ram pickup driven throughout the movie. One could argue that a red quad cab, long bed Ram 1500 4×4 would be one of the most desirable movie cars of the 1990s.

One of a Kind

Well, what we have here is nothing short of a unicorn. For truck fans, it’s like finding a Superbird in a barn – and the finding out that it’s got a Hemi and a four speed! Okay, maybe we’re overselling this thing a bit, but can you blame us?

This 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 that we found on Bring A Trailer has everything we could ever want in one of these trucks. It’s a quad cab, long bed 4×4, and being a Sport trim, it has body color bumpers and trim. It’s also a V10 truck, and, incredibly, it has a five speed manual transmission instead of the usual automatic.

It gets more surprising, though – until last year, this truck remained with its original owner in California, and accumulated just 22,000 careful miles. It looks practically brand new. For a generation of truck lovers raised on Twister, it’s a dream truck.

We couldn’t be happier that we stumbled upon this truck. We expect bidding to go very high. Most of these truck were used and abused, and few remain in this condition. Couple that with its desirable options and configuration, and you have a truly lust-worthy machine right here.
