I have an odd problem. My 95, 5.2, 2WD, automatic, randomly dies. I have checked or replaced everything imaginable and narrowed the problem to the ECU or 60 prong connector. I have cleaned the connector well, taking out the red, inserted guides, cleaned the ECU pins, used dielectric grease, manually pushed in each female pin, in the connector, until they were all flush, and put it back together. It will start and run, but randomly quits, no spark. While running, if I press hard on the connector, the engine will die. I’m now thinking the problem is in the ECU. I read that cranking too hard on the bolt holding the connector in place will damage the ECU and void any warranty. So, that may be the problem.
I can’t find a replacement ECU anywhere. The OEM part number is R4886667. The commonly used part number is 56028344. I can find 56028343 on the web but no 344. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement or a shop that will refurbish my ECU.

When you press on the connection, are you pushing it down toward the fender or pushing it like to plug it in? I understand from others that if you pull up or maybe down toward the fender, it could be the receptacle to board connection. Sometimes when its plugged in some of the pins could be pushed out. See if maybe pushing in on the wires or take the outside of the plug loose and then the rubber thing and reseat the pins. One of the other folks, on this forum made some good suggestions.
When I worked on my PCM, I broke some of the little clips that hold the pins in. Someone, Like bronze, maybe, suggested using a credit card behind the clips, would save them, BUT , I had all ready broke them. Now every time I play with it I have to push the pins in.

When I press the connector, as if I were plugging it into the PCM, the car dies. Pressing up or down doesn’t seem to cause the problem. I got another connector at Pick and Pull. I think I’ll try to transfer each wire into this spare connector. These 60 pin connectors are pretty fragile. I need to go slow.. it will take a while.
I heard from the guys at Oreillys today that Cardone is out of business. Their parent company is filing for bankruptcy. Oreillys does have a Masterpro ECU available but it has to be flashed locally.

95 is OBDI, you can't flash it. It doesn't do that trick. If it is for the correct engine/trans combo, that's all ya need. No flashing required.
Oreillys says they list a Masterpro ECU but it needs to be flashed. I’ll have to look on the Masterpro website or call them. In the meantime time, I moved all the wires in the connector to the spare connector. Didn’t solve the problem. Still dies. I still think it is an ECU issue, because when I press in the ECU connector, the engine dies. Before I spend $300 or so on an ECU, I think I’ might try another cam sensor.
I actually broke the bolt hole and my bolt just spun. I had to drill it out and as far as I recall I got my deposit back when RA received it.
I searched you R4886667 number and there are several on ebay. They begin with a zero not an R. I doubt that matters. IDK if the unit accounts for CA emissions reqs. I suspect the computer doesn't make a difference for emissions but you will have to check.
