1970 Dodge Charger R/T Spent 40 Years Covered Under Plastic Sheet
It isn’t often you find a numbers-matching ’70 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Six Pack in storage, especially one with such a cool story.
Barn finds are all the rage these days. But every so often, we come across a score so amazing that it blows our socks off. Such is the story of this incredible 1970 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Six Pack that has popped up on eBay. After spending the last 40 years in storage covered with a plastic sheet, it has finally seen the light of day once again.
The find of a lifetime happened after the owner of the estate where it was found passed away recently. And incredibly enough, it was one of 80 cars located on the property. The buyer of this amazing Dodge Charger was actually neighbors with the previous owner yet never knew he owned any of these cars. After his passing, it was one of three Mopars found inside a large barn.
Underneath a dirty plastic sheet was this incredible ride, sporting only 38,770 miles on the odometer. The original 440 still lies under the hood of this Dodge Charger, but it certainly isn’t stock. The original owner had the engine rebuilt way back in 1975, at which point a host of performance goodies were installed.
The less-than-ideal storage conditions left the car with some rust spots here and there, obviously. But the seller states that the frame, floors, and torsion bars are all in good shape. The interior needs some work, as it currently sports a cracked dash and worn seats. The engine, on the other hand, has undergone extensive work and is now reportedly in excellent running condition.
An amazing find, for sure. But even though there are plenty of reasons to love this ’70 Dodge Charger, it didn’t meet its reserve price with a high bid of just under $47k. We imagine someone will eventually strike a deal, however. And hopefully this once-in-a-lifetime find will get the attention it so deserves.
