Build Your Own Dodge Demon 170 With New Kit Coming from Direct Connection

Demon 170

For those unable to get a Dodge Demon 170 allocation, this new kit that was recently leaked on Direct Connection website could be your answer.

The Dodge Demon 170 is already a legend. It is a 1,025 horsepower, 8-second car that is the big bang send off Dodge is throwing for the internal combustion Hemi V8. It is the end of the line and an impressive end at that. The Dodge Demon 170 is also nearly impossible to get. The MSRP of $96,666 is not exactly chump change. But the reality is that you could never buy one for that. The actual market price for these cars is in the $300,000+ range. And the very last allocation for one was recently sold at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas for an eye watering $700,000! But for those that have been shut out (and own a 2019 or newer Redeye) we have some good news. The official Dodge aftermarket parts department Direct Connection will be offering a kit by the name of DC170.

This new DC170 kit will supposedly bring your Redeye up to Demon 170 power levels. The news was first reported by Carbuzz who spotted the parts list on a Hellcat forum. The parts list was apparently leaked on the Direct Connection website. The kit has since been removed from the site but not before those on the forum were able to capture all the details. We don’t know when the kit will be officially announced but it likely isn’t too far off. And we don’t know the asking price either. However, we bet it will be a hell of a lot less than $700,000.

The DC170 kit is essentially a stage 3 kit. For those that may not already be aware there is a pre-stage kit, a stage 1 kit and a stage 2 kit currently available. The pre-stage kit is required before moving up to any of the other kits. The pre-stage kit retails for $1,195 and includes a Direct Connection Tuner Kit, an instrument panel mount, a performance air filter, 180-degree thermostat and a factory tune for 802 horsepower. Stage 1 retails for $395 and has a custom tune to enable high octane fuel and 840 horsepower. Stage 2 goes for $1,195 and includes a 3.17-inch diameter Hellephant pulley and custom tune to increase performance to 885 horsepower. The stage 1 or 2 kit is not required for stage 3, you only need the pre-stage kit if you want to jump right to stage 3.

This is what we do know about the Demon 170 kit. It will be compatible with 2019 or newer Redeye models. Stage 3 will include a lot more hardware than you get with any of the lower kits. According to the leaked information it will come with 1300 cc injectors, high-flow Demon fuel pump, E85 capability, ported and CNC machined cylinder heads, all new gaskets, head studs, colder spark plugs, Hellephant 105mm snout, 2.72 supercharger pulley, 10 percent overdrive harmonic balancer, and 2-inch primary headers. The parts come with a 2-year/unlimited mileage warranty. The estimated time to install all these parts is 20 hours. When the kit is released it will be sold via Dodge Power Broker dealerships.

Installing the DC170 is expected to get you power levels equivalent to the Demon 170. That means you can count on around 1,000 horsepower. It may not be a ‘real’ Demon 170, but 1,000 horsepower is 1,000 horsepower. Tough to argue with that. Especially when you consider the cost savings. Right now, you can easily find a 2019 or newer Redeye for $80,000. Assume the DC170 kit plus install will set you back $20,000 all in. For one hundred grand you are rolling in a Hellcat making as much power as the Demon 170 but at less than one third of the price. Not a bad deal.
