Challenger Hellcat Redeye Flexes Its Muscles at L.A. Auto Show
Redeye version of Dodge’s Challenger Hellcat offers up a pretty sweet power to horsepower ratio with current discounts.
For most folks, the perfectly powerful Challenger Hellcat is more than enough. After all, it does offer up 707 supercharged, tire-destroying horsepower. But since Dodge seemingly had a few spare Demon parts laying around, they needed to do something with them. Thus, they stuffed a slightly detuned (due to reduced airflow) Demon V8 into a regular Challenger Hellcat and blessed it with an additional 90 horsepower, then called it the Redeye.
Lest you think that this menacing machine is the “lesser” version of anything, we can confidently say that it most certainly is not. And it looked rather magnificent sitting on the 2019 L.A. Auto Show floor when we spotted it during press days. With aggressive fender flares, massive wheels and tires, and those matte black accents, the Redeye most certainly looks the part. And we already know that it’s more than capable of backing up those looks with raw acceleration as well.
If you’ve been eyeballing a new Challenger Hellcat Redeye, you’ll also be happy to know that Dodge is running some sweet deals on 2019 models right now. They were quick to tout this fact in L.A., placing a large “Power Dollars” banner on the rear window of this particular machine. This deal gives buyers an advertised $10 per horsepower discount on all Challenger models. For the Redeye, that equates to a healthy $7,970 cash allowance.
Not to shabby for a car that starts out just north of $70k. In terms of dollar to horsepower ratio, you certainly won’t do much better in today’s market. If you want to opt for a wide body, expect to throw in another $6k or so, but we’d say it’s worth it for the extra girth.
For a car that’ll run a high 10-second quarter-mile out of the box, that’s a pretty hard deal to pass up. And we all know that a few simple mods can make these things much, much faster. If you’re in the SoCal area and want to check out this sweet Redeye for yourself before plunking down the cash for one, you’re in luck. Because the 2019 L.A. Auto Show is open to the public , Nov. 23 – Dec. 1. So stop by and see this, along with many other sweet Dodge rides, in the flesh!
