64_Dodge_Dart_F34.jpgPresidents Day, Valentine’s Day, Boxing Day, Christmas Day; you name it, there is a “special day” for most things in the 21st Century. Add Collector Car Appreciation Day to your calendar and hope that the boss gives you the day off, because not only is July 8 the day of the collector car, it’s also the first day of the Chrysler Nationals at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds and they’ll be celebrating all weekend long, July 8-10.

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA)
and its Automotive Restoration Market Organization (ARMO) and Hot Rod
Industry Alliance (HRIA) Councils have deemed July 8, 2011 to be the
official “Collector Car Appreciation Day.” This is the second such
observance of what is intended to be an annual event. The purpose of the
day is to raise awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and
collection plays in American society.

As part of this special
day, Carlisle Events and the Chrysler Nationals will be one of hundreds
of events nationwide to work with and recognize individuals, car clubs
and businesses as they organize car cruises, club gatherings and other
educational events to celebrate the day.

In Carlisle, the
originators of the phrase “Collector Car,” one lucky person will be
recognized for the love and upkeep they show to their car and the
collector car hobby. By visiting www.CarlisleEvents.com and/or
e-mailing to CollectorCar@CarlisleEvents.com, you can share your story
(or that of someone you know) in 210 words or less as to what you or
your friend does to be that special someone who appreciates the
collector car hobby. The deadline to register is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June
21, just over two weeks prior to the start of the Chrysler Nationals
and the observance itself. The winner will be selected by Carlisle
Events co-owner and co-founder Bill Miller.

By submitting your
story for consideration, you become eligible for the grandest of
recognitions; a free weekend pass plus VIP parking for the 2011 Chrysler
Event and a showfield registration PLUS weekend hotel accommodations
for 2012. The collector car hobbyist has a passion like no other and not
only deserves this day, but deserves the prize.

The Carlisle
Chrysler Nationals offer a true Mopar-lover’s paradise. With vehicles
from all eras of the Chrysler brand – classics, musclecars,
high-performance new models and more – you won’t want to miss the
enormous showfield organized by year, make and model as well as
fantastic indoor displays. In addition, there are a slew of kids’
activities, industry guests, car and engine giveaways as well as NHRA
drag racing. Whether you prefer the A, B or E body style – this show has
it all!
