Coronet Super Bee Spreads Love to the Often Forgotten Classic
Artist rendering of a Coronet Super Bee dubbed ‘The Hulk’ sits as low as its supercharger sits high, and reminds us of the lesser loved legend.
Many people overlook the iconic origin of the “Super Bee” marque. Though it is now linked to the Charger SRT8 Super Bee, it started with the humble Dodge Coronet. While the Charger and Challenger of yesteryear are prominently praised, it seems the Coronet doesn’t quite get the same recognition. Frankly, we just don’t think that’s right. However, this 3D artist is helping to alleviate this issue.
Timothy Adry Emmanuel has an Instagram account laden with his gorgeous digital renderings of cars we could only dream of seeing in person. One such example is this 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee dubbed “The Hulk.” This big, green tire slaying machine looks like it has some temper issues, indeed.
Emmanuel states in his Instagram post that he took influence from a picture of a near-perfect 1970 Super Bee posted by House Of Muscle host Mike Musto.
The render sees the Super Bee laying nice and low on a set of LD97 Forged LD08 wheels. It’s only an appropriate choice, as a set of these wheels new costs over $5,000. If you’re going big with a rare car, you might as well go all out on the wheels too.
Often when describing a car’s engine, the phrase “under the hood” gets thrown around. That phrase hardly works in this case, though. The hood spectacularly fails to restrain the massive supercharger on top of the wonderous big block. Additionally, we can see what looks like an MSD distributor sticking out the hood beside the bodacious blower. Why not, right? Like we said before: if you’re going big, then go real big.
The kind folks over at Auto Evolution point out that only 1,072 examples of the 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee ever existed. They make a good point, then, in claiming that Mopar purists would likely not take too kindly to this eccentric modification if it were real. That’s an argument for another day, though. In this case, we’re just glad to see the Coronet get a little love.
