Designed specifically for straight line performance, the Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack Stage 2 should be quite capable in that regard.

At this point, it goes without saying that the new Dodge Charger Daytona is a bit, well, controversial. As the very first all-electric muscle car from Dodge, the Charger Daytona R/T and Scat Pack were destined to conjure up plenty of mixed opinions even if they didn’t bear the iconic Charger name, especially given today’s climate – which hasn’t been quite as EV-friendly as it once was. Regardless, while the ICE-powered variants are already facing a high level of interest from enthusiasts, the Dodge Charger Scat Pack with the Stage 2 upgrade is poised to become a rather formidable choice for street or strip performance, too.

As most are well aware by now, the Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack comes equipped with a pair of electric motors from the factory, each churning out 335 horsepower, resulting in a combined output of 670 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque. Those are impressive enough figures on paper, but that power also flows to all four wheels with a mechanical limited slip differential out back to minimize slip, plus Line Lock to help warm up the tires and Launch Control available to maximize straight-line acceleration – something that’s clearly a focus with the new Dodge Charger Daytona.

Providing juice for those short blasts is a 100.5 kWh battery that’s designed to optimize performance, too. The unit is capable of delivering an initial peak of 550 kW and sustain over 500 kW for a quarter-mile, while the Charger Daytona’s 400-volt propulsion system also delivers a high discharge rate across that same distance. According to Dodge, the EV muscle car will be able to repeat that feat up to 10 times as well, making for a full day at the track. The setup should result in a 0-60 time of around 3.3 seconds, coupled with an estimated quarter-mile time of 11.5 seconds – impressive numbers, indeed.

On top of all that, we’ve seen – time and time again – that EVs make impressive drag racers, even though they typically top out at or before the quarter-mile mark in many instances. The Dodge Charger Daytona will be quite easy to drive in these types of scenarios with presumably repeatable performance, and it’s quite clear that the automaker designed it with that in mind from the get-go.

On paper, the Dodge Charger Daytona certainly seems like a formidable competitor to more traditional muscle cars like the Ford Mustang, which it should easily blow past in a straight line, given that model’s high three-second 0-60 acceleration times, coupled with a high 13-second quarter-mile.

That still may not prove to be quite a total comfort for those that already miss Mopar V8s, but for anyone looking for a capable and stylish straight line maven, well, the Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack Stage 2 sure looks like it’ll fit the bill.
