This Dodge Demon lot, #1045 and #1142, are looking to haunt a new garage and go like Hell at a track.

When Dodge announced the output figures for the Challenger SRT Hellcat, the internet lost its mind. People could not believe that Dodge had put 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque into a muscle car. A few years later, Dodge announced it had topped the Hellcat – by a lot. Horsepower junkies foamed at the mouth for the arrival of the 840-horsepower Dodge  Demon. The problem was that even if all of the people that wanted a Demon could afford one, many of them wouldn’t get the chance to buy one. Dodge only made 3,300 of them; 300 went to Canada and 3,000 went to the U.S.

Two of them (both USDM models) will be up for auction during this year’s Monterey Car Week. We don’t know how they did it or what it took, but someone is selling a pair of Demons through Mecum Auctions. According to the auction house, the car bearing production #1045 has a black hood, roof, and trunk, and only 43 miles on the clock. The #1142 car has only racked up 77 miles.

Other than those minor differences, both Demons are the same. They both come with the same TorRed paint, giant hood scoop, enhanced supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 with 808 horsepower and 717 lb-ft of torque, beefed-up eight-speed automatic, 18-inch wheels, Drag Mode suspension tuning, SRT Power Chiller, After-Run Chiller, and TransBrake. They both also have the Comfort Audio Group and Demon Crate full of the hotter powertrain control module that unleashes all 840 horsepower and 770 lb-ft, skinny front wheels, and Demon-branded tools.

The original MSRP (including the destination charge) for the 2018 Dodge Demon was $86,090. When this devilish pair crosses the block, it should command a substantial premium. Mecum Auctions expects these Demons to pull a final bid between $250,000 and $275,000.

Derek Shiekhi's father raised him on cars. As a boy, Derek accompanied his dad as he bought classics such as post-WWII GM trucks and early Ford Mustang convertibles.

After loving cars for years and getting a bachelor's degree in Business Management, Derek decided to get an associate degree in journalism. His networking put him in contact with the editor of the Austin-American Statesman newspaper, who hired him to write freelance about automotive culture and events in Austin, Texas in 2013. One particular story led to him getting a certificate for learning the foundations of road racing.

While watching TV with his parents one fateful evening, he saw a commercial that changed his life. In it, Jeep touted the Wrangler as the Texas Auto Writers Association's "SUV of Texas." Derek knew he had to join the organization if he was going to advance as an automotive writer. He joined the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) in 2014 and was fortunate to meet several nice people who connected him to the representatives of several automakers and the people who could give him access to press vehicles (the first one he ever got the keys to was a Lexus LX 570). He's now a regular at TAWA's two main events: the Texas Auto Roundup in the spring and the Texas Truck Rodeo in the fall.

Over the past several years, Derek has learned how to drive off-road in various four-wheel-drive SUVs (he even camped out for two nights in a Land Rover), and driven around various tracks in hot hatches, muscle cars, and exotics. Several of his pieces, including his article about the 2015 Ford F-150 being crowned TAWA's 2014 "Truck of Texas" and his review of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, have won awards in TAWA's annual Excellence in Craft Competition. Last year, his JK Forum profile of Wagonmaster, a business that restores Jeep Wagoneers, won prizes in TAWA’s signature writing contest and its pickup- and SUV-focused Texas Truck Invitational.

In addition to writing for a variety of Internet Brands sites, including JK Forum, H-D Forums, The Mustang Source, Mustang Forums, LS1Tech, HondaTech, Jaguar Forums, YotaTech, and Ford Truck Enthusiasts. Derek also started There Will Be Cars on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
