Dodge Ram Plays Leapfrog With Boat, Loses

Dodge Ram

We’re not sure exactly what caused this insane accident, but we are shocked at how well the Dodge Ram held up.

Ah, boats. If you’ve ever owned one, you’re already aware of the many warnings that come from other boat owners. These cautious tales often warn us of the many endless costs boat owners incur from repairs, which seem to be necessary almost on a daily basis. That’s why boat is really just an acronym for “bust out another thousand,” after all. Obviously, we expect to have issues with things like engines and bilge pumps. But we don’t expect those myriad costs to the Dodge Ram we use to tow our boats.

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened to this unlucky soul in upstate New York recently. We don’t know all the details surrounding what happened, but we did cull some info from this Reddit thread, where the pictures of the incident were originally posted.

We don’t know if the boat was simply improperly secured to the trailer, or even secured at all. Or if this was just a case of a badly timed emergency stop. What we do know is that the boat and Dodge Ram engaged in a little game of leapfrog. And the Ram clearly lost.

This unfortunate accident may have been caused by neglect or even downright stupidity. But it’s worth noting how well the Dodge Ram held up to having a large boat land on top of it. There’s a V-shaped dent in the tailgate and the roof, but the rest is surprisingly intact. A boat that large could have easily crushed the cab of the truck. But it doesn’t even appear that anyone was injured.

No word on the state of their britches, however, which are undoubtedly soiled. We’d rather not know.
