Free Dodge Charger Hellcat

Some guys have all the luck. YouTuber Westen Champlin is given a free Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye and $10K to modify it anyway he wants.

We all know what the Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye is capable of. It makes big power, and can hustle itself down a drag strip. With 797 horsepower on tap it is billed as the most powerful and fastest mass-produced sedan in the world. Let’s be honest, it is simply too much car for most people. And that is exactly why we love it. It is the perfect car to compete at Roadkill Nights Powered by Dodge, and that is exactly the plan for the car you see here. However, these cars are a little bit pricey. So, how excited would you be to get a free Dodge Charger?

This week’s “Wicked Wednesday” presented by Nitto Tire features YouTuber Westen Champlin and his Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye. Well, it is not exactly his Hellcat. Dodge is allowing him to use it for the purposes of competing at Roadkill Nights. And as if that is not a sweet enough deal, Dodge is also throwing him $10,000. He can use that money to modify the car in any way he sees fit. Champlin posts a video of his Hellcat delivery and initial thoughts on his YouTube channel. As you would expect he acts like a kid at Christmas.

Delivery Day

“Can you actually believe we are getting a widebody Dodge Charger Hellcat?” Asks Champlin rhetorically. He understandably can barely contain his excitement. The car is barely three feet from the transporter and Champlin asks if the thing can do burnouts. Next thing you know, off he and the Hellcat go in a cloud of smoke. Break in period? What break in period? Get it off the truck and then send it! OK, it does have 1,800 miles on it, so it is not brand new, but you still have got to love the enthusiasm here.

The next order of business is to ask the lady working at the drive thru window what she thinks of the new Hellcat. She is impressed, and clearly likes the car. So far so good.

Roadkill Nights

Roadkill Nights is why the Charger Hellcat Redeye has been delivered in the first place. Champlin has been selected to participate in the event this year. If you are not familiar with this event, you really need to read Dodge Forum more often. Roadkill Nights held in the motor city and is a weeklong celebration of American car culture.

The highlight is legal street racing down historic Woodward Avenue. This Charger Hellcat Redeye is going to be there to compete. And even though it is damn quick right out of the box, Champlin will have $10,000 at his disposal to modify the car and make it even faster.

Burnout

All Fun and Games Until Someone Breaks the Hellcat

After playing around with the car for a little bit Champlin has a bit of bad news to share. “And on another note, somehow I have already broken it.” Says Champlin. Well, that is not a good start. The car should put out nearly 800 horsepower. However, at the moment it is running only about 3 pounds of boost and making half the power it should.

So, it is time to head to the Dodge dealer. They poke around the car for a bit but are unable to pinpoint the issue. We are sure it will get all sorted soon, but Roadkill Nights starts on August 14, so the clock is ticking.

See For Yourself

Checkout the video below to see the Hellcat delivery and what Champlin has planned for his build. Actually, he won’t share the details of his plan because he doesn’t want to tip off his competitors. However, the video is still quite entertaining and while you watch you can imagine if that was you getting the keys to a new Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye. What modifications would you make to your free Dodge Charger? Let us know in the Dodge Forum forums.
